As most of you probably know, there is a little girl who was kidnapped on her holiday in a small town in Portugal. The little girl was called Madilene. Her mysterious disappearance has been going on over a year now, and for some time her parents were accused of her of mystery. The Portugal police had a cock-and-bull-story that Madilene’s parents had murdered their daughter. They said that the girls parents had drugged her, given her two much of the drug and paniced. They then said they had disposed of her body and claimed that she had been ”kidnapped”. Well I think this is appauling of the police to lie until their tounges turn black. Anyway there is quite an interesting story about Madliene. Here it is…

There was a shop keeper putting away items on a shelf when a little girl came up to him and  said she was lost. The shopkeeper then asked her name, because the girl was sucking her thumb it came out unclear but he thought the name was Mattie. He repeated the name to the girl and she corrected him saying it was Maddie. A little curious he asked where is your mother? Maddie replied that is not my mummy, she took me from my holiday and I miss my mummy I want her.

Well what do you think of that? I think that if they had followed this story up then Madilene would have been reunited with her family in no time at all.

Last week me and other pupils from rooms one, two and three. We all assembled in the hall after interval. I could feel my heart pumping in my chest, I was so nervous. Well I suppose you would be to if you had been picked for the 2008 Te Awamutu Intermediate Speech Finals!

I was second out of everyone and I just wanted to vaporise and not be part of this. I tried to act like everythng was fine, but it was useless I couldn’t pretend anymore. I was about to make a fool of myself, I just knew it. The first person went up and recited their speech perfectly. I was next. Standing up on the stage I opened my mouth and vomited. Na! only joking I didn’t vomit! Did I scare you? Anyway back to my speech, Iopened my mouth and said in a loud voice, Dear Diary, because that is how my speech started. I didn’t get through to the finals but tried my best. Wish me luck for next year

20 of the 8th 2008 this was the special day where I turned twelve. I’m not eleven anymore I’m twelve. Only four more years till I turn sixteen and get my drivers licence! If I pass that is… Anyway this is what happened…

At 6:30 on Wednesday morning My little sister came into my room and told me to get up so she could see what I got. I very reluctantly got up and followed my sister out of my room and into the lounge. There sitting on the breakfast table was a big pile of presents YAY! I opened my Nana and Granddad’s one fist and inside was a purse, a bracelet and a pair of socks. From Mum and Dad I got some leggings and a top, chocolates, a book, a pair of boots and a sleepover kit that consisted of a bag, a toothbrush and a pair of pyjamas. From my friends I got a bubble bath set and chocolate! Last but not least a twenty-dollar book voucher from Granny and Grandad.

When I got home from school Mum made party food and decorated the room. Finally when Dad got home we had the party and watched the Oylmpics!! That was my party for 2008.

Finally we got some medals for New Zealand. It’s about time! If you want to hear about the medals New Zealand got read on, and if you don’t want to hear about it please read anyway!!

First up we have the rowing. Last night was the finals. It started off with Mahe Drysdale. He got off to a good start and was in the lead, but I spoke to soon. As he got to 1500 metres his rowing must have done a back flip and never got the whole way round. Just as he was about to cross the line two other countries over took him and he only got a bronze medal. Now you’ll know why. You see Mahe had a stomache bug but it seemed too get worse, I mean he lost 4kgs in four days at one point. Then as the race finished  Mahe vomited and was taken away by an ambulance. Also five minutes before the ceremony when he was getting his bronze medal he collapsed! Poor guy! So I think he did extremely well to get a bronze. Now we move on to the Everswin-Van-Del twins. They were in the the doubles and got a GOLD MEDAL!!! I couldn’t believe it. I honestly couldn’t! They did so well and bought honor to our country. That is the rowing for tonight.

Next we have shotput and we also got a gold medal and we did really well and our country is very proud! Last but not least, we have cycling where we got a silver medal. This year was our year and we did so well!! I’m pretty sure no one in our country could deny that we tried our hardest and did so well

Thats all for tonight tune in next week for another blog post!

Well done to everyone who participated in my quiz I put on my blog a few weeks ago. Sorry I said I would put the answers on my blog within a few days. Well those games turned into weeks. Unfortunally no one was a winner but thanks for trying!!

Here is the answer!

The man escapes by looking in the mirror and he saw what he saw. He used the sword to cut the table in half. Two halves make a whole. He climed through the hole back to his universe and lived happily ever after.

After dinner last night I sat down in front of our tellivision and watched the 2008 Beijing Oylimpics!!! I was hoping like mad that maybe this year we might bring home some gold, silver or bronze medals. The opening ceromny was really fabulous with all the dancers and fireworks. Soomeday we will have the Oylimpics here!

Anyway first up were the mens singles in rowing. I was holding onto the edge of my seat as the heats started. I’m very compeditive! New Zealand got off to a good start and we were in the lead. Go New Zealand I shouted jumping up and down like a lunatic iin front of the T.V. until my parents told me to settle down. We were half way there and were in the lead by far. I had a feeling we would get this. New Zealand was coming up to the finishing line. I was going crazy, all of a sudden it was over and New Zealand won the mens singles heats.

Now it was time for the womens singles heats with our competer Emma Twigg. She got of to a good start in the lead, but we had Serbia close behind us and we had to be quick if we wanted to win this. It looked like Serbia might get in front. Luckily she didn’t, but when she got to the three quarter mark I was getting desperate. New Zealand crossed the finishing line first but we had Serbia as a close second. But we got there in the end.

I don’t have any more news because mum made me go to bed straight after the womens singles had finished

Here I have a problem and I want you to solve it. If you want to answer just leave a comment on my blog. On Monday the  11th of August the winners name will be on my blog, as well as the answer. Sorry guys no prizes!

There was a man who met some aliens and they didn’t like him. So they teleported the man to an unknown universe where they locked him in a sealed room with nothing in it except a table and a big mirror. How on earth does he get out???

There is my problem now I want to see how many people can answer it! Please have a go if you visit my blog. It’s hard but you might get it. But remember it is only for fun. You never know, you could be the winner. It finishes next week.

P.S. Remember there was no door or windows!!

During my holidays I went to the local library in town where they had a holiday programme. It was called Around the world at your library. Each day you would make a craft that they had and used in that particular country to take home. E.g. if the country was China we would make something like ”Tangrams” or decorate your own Chinese lantern. This is what I did in the holidays.

Day  1

Woke up at 8:30 and had breakfast. When mum was finally ready we all made our way down to the library. The first country was China. We started off with a story which I thought was a bit babyish seeing as the librarians said the programme was based ages 5-12. If your twelve you don’t really appreciate a story book being read to you! Anyway we made tangrams and lanterns like I mentioned in the first paragraph. The adults handed out big sheets of paper and told you to colour in the example tangrams. Once you had done this you had to fold the piece of paper in a certain way so when you had finished folding the piece of paper looked a bit like a box. After that we were given yet another piece of card with the colour of your choice. The piece of card had shapes on it and the children were told to cut along the lines and cut out the shapes. Last but not least we opened up our pieces of paper and put our cut out cards inside. Now we had a portable tangrams game. Secondly we cut bits of card into strips. But we only cut up to the line so we kept the piece of paper as one piece. Then we folded it around and stuck on a handle. I chose a green card with a blue handle. Very last we decorated our lanterns with stickers. That was day 1 of my holidays!

Day 2

On the second day of my holidays we went to the library as usual but this time we did something a bit babyish for older students. Our country was Scotland and all we did was colour in a piece of paper with squares on it. We had to make it look like tartan! It was sooo boring. Saw Megan. Less said about it the better.

Day 3

For the third day of my holidays my mums friend took us to the library to make a mosaic. The country was Italy. I thought we were going to use real glass or china. But because there were little kids we couldn’t. We had to use coloured paper squares instead! It was quite good though. First the librarians handed out a plastic plate to everyone My picture contained a small girl with pigtails standing on grass with the sun and clouds up above her and a green background. It looked quite good.

Day 4

Today went to the library and our country was Japan. Our craft was a carp kite. First we were given two pieces of paper shaped as a fish. Then we all coloured in the head and the tail. I coloured them in with the rainbow colors. Once we had done that we decorated the body with scales. I chose rainbow coloured scales as well. Finally we made a hole in its mouth using a hole-punch. Then we put string through the hole in the mouth and put crepe on the tail. I also chose rainbow coloured crepe paper. Once everyone had finished we took them out side and flew them because it was quite a windy day. Then we all went home.

Day 5

Last day of the holiday programme and also the best! Our country was New Zealand, and we made pois. We started of with four pieces of bubble wrap and wool. First we started plaiting our wool into two separate plaits. It took ages! After that we wrapped the bubble wrap onto the end of the wool and added some glitter. My glitter colors were blue and purple. Next we put the other piece of bubble wrap around the first one and tied it together with a piece of wool. Now I had a pair of pois. Last of all the librarian showed us how to use them

Those were my holidays, I didn’t do much but I did enough to keep myself occupied!!

She looks out of her sparkling clean window of her cosy country cottage and sighs at her reflection. Her once beautiful heart shaped face now cracked with deep crinkles. She saw her once attractive big brown eyes now an ugly murky brown with short stubby lashes. Her hair was her best feature from a long glossy black to the shortest grey. A tear slid down her face as she thought of how beautiful she still could have been if she hadn’t had all the stress in the real world, helping Cinderella. At least she had been polite though slightly full-of –herself, she thought. Maybe I’d rather look like myself than the evil stepmother she said out loud to the empty kitchen, with the cuckoo clock ticking into the silence. The fairy godmother shuddered as she thought of how the stepmother treated Cinderella. You could never feel the cold grey eyes leave you once you felt them boring into your head. The fairy godmother’s eyes swivelled to her perfectly manicured lawn and she saw a small stick out of place. As she rushed outside to retrieve it she vowed she would never be like the evil stepmother in her lifetime.

“Oh, god I can’t do this” I said to myself when I had been instructed to climb to the top of a nine metre pole and walk across a thin wire to the pole at the other side. “I just can’t”. I felt sick and scared but I wanted to show everyone I could do it. I knew I didn’t really have any other choice, so I started climbing…

Someone started shouting supportive remarks at me, but that didn’t stop me jumping out of my skin when I looked down. People looked like ants jumping around safely on the earth not a care in the world. My head started spinning; I was going to vomit any second now I wanted to get down but I knew I should try. So I lifted my shaky leg and took my first step…

I screamed as I stepped out onto the wire and gripped it like my life depended on it. My second step was just as bad as the first, the wire bounced and shook. I thought I was going to faint with anxiety until I remembered the third step towards death. Slowly I lifted my foot and put it in front of me as carefully and as gently as possible. I felt my heart go up to my throat as the wire shook and swayed with the wind. This went on and on. How many hours had I been up I thought, two, three. I wanted to cry but no tears came. I wanted to scream but no sound came. Turning around I saw I had come over the halfway point. Some colour rushed back into my cheeks and my heart sank back to my chest. My spirits lifted, I could see the finish!

I held my head high and walked confidently to the finish. I was so proud with myself, until my belayer asked me to lean back like I was sitting in an invisible armchair so that I could get down. All of a sudden I didn’t feel so proud and confident I started sweating uncontrollably and my head started throbbing so loud I couldn’t hear myself think. I took a deep breath and fell backwards…

I found my voice and screamed as I left my body up on the high ropes. I was falling! All of a sudden my feet hit the hard and painful landing. I was back on earth. Even though I was still feeling sick and dizzy, I gave a ginormous smile because I knew where I wanted to be and where I belonged…On the ground
